Class Description
This 4.5 hour class is taught by an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and exceeds the Wisconsin Department of Justice requirements for training for issuance of a state concealed carry license (CCW – Concealed Carry Weapon). Wisconsin does not require a live-fire shooting qualification for successful completion of this course.

Class Description
This course is designed around the fundamental skills behind shooting handguns both safely and accurately. This handgun marksmanship fundamentals course is about 3 hours with a low student to Instructor ratio, allowing for close, personal hands-on attention while still being in a relaxed classroom environment. Course instruction includes classroom work, hands on dry-fire practice using a SIRT LASER TRAINING PISTOL (classroom) and also Instructor led live-fire practice on the range.

- Key fundamental features include grip, proper operation of your firearm, stance, sight alignment and trigger control
- Practice one of the hardest to master skills – Trigger Control
- Excellent for seasoned shooters that have not been shooting for a while. They can hone their shooting fundamentals while reviewing safe gun handling skills
Equipment and supplies required:
Eye and Ear Protection: Complimentary eye and ear protection is provided for the course. Students may bring their own eye and ear equipment if they wish. Please bring your own notepad and pen. Bear Arms does not provide paper and pen for note taking.
Firearms: Bear Arms will provide firearms appropriate for use in this course. Students are permitted to use their own handguns if they so choose. Student’s guns should be cleaned and function checked prior to attendance. Small frame guns, i.e. Ruger LC9s are discouraged in this class.

Proper range attire: For safety reasons, low-cut tops or open toed shoes are discouraged. Ball caps are encouraged, but not required.

Defensive Pistol

Class Description
This is a semi-auto ONLY pistol class (.380, 9mm, .40, or .45 caliber), designed for students intending to carry concealed. Participants will be taught fundamental defensive pistol tactics and techniques essential for effective response in high-stress situations.

Class content includes concept discussion and demonstration, with considerable time spent receiving hands-on defensive pistol instruction, as well as guided practice to develop muscle memory and smooth, efficient execution. Students will participate in dry-practice (“dummy” rounds) training with their pistol and carry method prior to live-fire drills. Students will also experience deadly force decision-making and response training utilizing Bear Arms’ exclusive 180° MILO three-screen simulator environment.

- Draw stroke training from concealment

- A fully functional handgun with all factory-installed safety devices intact.
- Minimum two functional magazines for the handgun being used in the course
- 100 rounds of factory loaded FMJ target ammunition of your handgun’s caliber
- Protective eyewear (safety glasses); prescription glasses are acceptable
- A belt and outside the waistband (OWB) holster, which completely covers the trigger guard, and is designed for the firearm being used. Holster must be worn on your strong side. No cross-draw holsters
- A two-cavity (min) magazine carrier for the belt that is compatible with the caliber of your magazines.
- A light jacket, button-down shirt, or sweatshirt which covers your holstered gun to serve as a concealment garment
- Metallic “dummy” rounds (Snap Caps) corresponding to the caliber of your firearm– .380, 9mm, .40, or .45 caliber only
Chamber disabling devices (.380, 9mm, .40, or .45 caliber only) will be provided for use in course dry practice exercises, and for at-home dry practice skills training.
