Class Description

This 4+ hour class is taught by an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and exceeds the Wisconsin Dept. of Justice requirement for training for the CCW Permit. This comprehensive course focuses on basic firearm safety and 1 on 1 safe gun handling skills exercises.

We will discuss the attitude, training and mindset necessary to responsibly own and carry a concealed weapon. Personal defense topics including the legal use of deadly force, modern concealed carry techniques, car jacking’s, home invasions as well as safety in your home and proper storage will be discussed. Course fee includes Certificate of Training, Wisconsin CCW Permit Application, and Course Training Manual along with some valuable Concealed Carry materials.

Instructors:All Instructors for this course are required to have NRA Firearms Instructor Certification.

Individuals must be 12 years of age or older to attend this class. Children ages 12 through 17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. No tag alongs. Legal guardians or parents must also sign up for the class and be present on the range to supervise their underage children during live fire exercises. Legal guardians and parents who have previously taken the course are exempt from course fees.

Class Description

This course is designed around the fundamental skills behind shooting handguns both safely and accurately. This handgun marksmanship fundamentals course is about 3 hours with a low student to Instructor ratio, allowing for close, personal hands-on attention while still being in a relaxed classroom environment. Course instruction includes classroom work, hands on dry-fire practice using a SIRT LASER TRAINING PISTOL (classroom) and also Instructor led live-fire practice on the range.

Eye and Ear Protection: Complimentary eye and ear protection is provided for the course. Students may bring their own eye and ear equipment if they wish. Please bring your own notepad and pen. Bear Arms does not provide paper and pen for note taking.
Firearms: Bear Arms will provide firearms appropriate for use in this course. Students are permitted to use their own handguns if they so choose. Student’s guns should be cleaned and function checked prior to attendance. Small frame guns, i.e.  Ruger LC9s are discouraged in this class.

Class Description

This is a semi-auto ONLY pistol class (.380, 9mm, .40, or .45 caliber), designed for students intending to carry concealed. Participants will be taught fundamental defensive pistol tactics and techniques essential for effective response in high stress situations.

Most importantly, students will be taught drills and practice techniques which can be done safely at home, to accelerate the rate of learning and proficiency even beyond the classroom.

Class content includes concept discussion and demonstration, with considerable time spent receiving hands-on defensive pistol instruction, as well as guided practice to develop muscle memory and smooth, efficient execution. Students will participate in dry-practice (“dummy” rounds) training with their pistol and carry method prior to live fire drills. Students will also experience deadly force decision-making and response training utilizing Bear Arms’ exclusive 180° MILO three-screen simulator environment.

  • Firearm responsibility and safety
  • Draw stroke training from concealment
  • Target acquisition and isolation using iron sights
